The Magpul M-LOK Aluminum Rail Section, 9-Slot is an aluminum Picatinny rail section that mounts directly into any M-LOK handguard slot.
The Magpul M-LOK Aluminum Rail Section, 9-Slot (MAG583) bolts straight to any M-LOK slot and gives you nine slots of MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail for lights, lasers, older mounts or a hand stop. Machined from hard-anodized aluminum for a rock-solid, low-profile platform, it uses the M-LOK cam-lock system for a secure, repeatable mount and ships with the hardware you need to fit it.
How It Compares
The same section is also made in three-slot, five-slot and seven-slot lengths where handguard space is tighter.
Key Features
- 9 slots of Picatinny rail: the longest run for multiple accessories
- Hard-anodized aluminum: rigid, hard-wearing, low-profile
- M-LOK cam-lock mount: secure and repeatable
- Hardware included: ready to fit out of the pack
Compatibility & Fitment
Fits any M-LOK-compatible handguard or forend, and provides MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail for rail-mount accessories. You need a clear run of M-LOK slots long enough to take it, and handguards that are Picatinny-only or use a different slot standard will not accept it. The M-LOK mounting hardware is supplied — fit it where the accessories need to sit, torque it down and re-check after the first range trip.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will this rail section fit my handguard?
It fits any M-LOK-compatible handguard or forend, but this is the longest of the four lengths, so you need a clear run of M-LOK slots long enough to take all nine slots. Measure the space on your forend before you buy, and check it is genuinely M-LOK rather than Picatinny-only or a different slot standard. If your handguard is already Picatinny along its full length, you don't need this at all.
What does an M-LOK rail section actually do?
It converts M-LOK slots into MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail, so accessories built for Picatinny will mount on an M-LOK forend. That covers lights, lasers, older mounts and a hand stop — anything with a rail clamp rather than a direct M-LOK footprint. It uses the M-LOK cam-lock system, which draws the section tight inside the slot for a secure, repeatable mount.
How many slots do I need, and how does this compare with the shorter sections?
Nine slots is the longest run offered and is the one to choose when you are mounting several accessories on the same section, or a mount that needs plenty of fore-and-aft adjustment. The same hard-anodized aluminum section is also offered in three-slot, five-slot and seven-slot lengths where handguard space is tighter.
Is fitting it straightforward?
Yes — the M-LOK mounting hardware is supplied, so you position the section where the accessories need to sit and torque it down. There are no permanent changes to the handguard and nothing gunsmith-level about it. It is worth re-checking the fasteners after the first range trip, as with any newly fitted rail hardware.
