The Daniel Defense Offset Flashlight Mount is a Rock & Lock offset light mount for 1" (25.4 mm) flashlight bodies, clamping to any Mil-Std 1913 Picatinny rail.

The idea is simple and it works. Fit a vertical foregrip on the bottom rail, put this mount on either side rail, and the light's tailcap lands exactly where your support thumb sits. In Daniel Defense's own words, as the shooter's forward hand grips the vertical foregrip, his thumb has quick and perfect access to the rear button of his flashlight.

The second benefit is the one nobody advertises: it eliminates many accidental light discharges, because although the action to the on/off button is quick and natural, it is also deliberate. A light that switches itself on in the bag or against your gear is a real problem, and geometry solves it better than discipline does.

The mount is precision CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and Hard Coat Type III Mil-Spec anodized black, and it uses Daniel Defense's patented Rock & Lock one-piece mounting system, which simplifies installation on MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rails. It weighs 1.3 oz (37 g) and is made in the USA. Because it fits either side rail, the same part serves left- and right-handed shooters.

Key Features

  • Offset by design — the tailcap sits under the support thumb when a vertical foregrip is fitted
  • Deliberate activation — the geometry cuts accidental light discharges without slowing you down
  • Ambidextrous — mounts to either side rail, so one part suits either hand
  • Rock & Lock one-piece mounting — patented, and simpler to install than a two-piece clamp
  • 6061-T6 aluminum, Type III hard-coat anodized — service-grade finish in black
  • 1.3 oz (37 g) — negligible weight out at the muzzle end

Compatibility & Fitment

Fits any MIL-STD-1913 Picatinny rail — a quad rail, or a rail section added to an M-LOK or KeyMod handguard — on AR-15/M4 rifles. The mount accommodates 1" (25.4 mm) diameter flashlight bodies; Daniel Defense sells separate reducing inserts in .915" and .835" for slimmer lights, which are not included here. It is intended to be used alongside a vertical foregrip on the bottom rail, which is what puts the tailcap under your thumb, and it can be fitted on either side rail for left- or right-handed use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size light does it take?
It accommodates 1" (25.4 mm) diameter flashlight bodies, which covers most rail-mounted weapon lights of the Scout Light class. Daniel Defense makes separate reducing inserts in .915" and .835" for slimmer bodies; those are sold on their own and are not supplied with this mount.

Why offset rather than straight?
So the tailcap ends up under your support thumb when a vertical foregrip is fitted to the bottom rail. Daniel Defense's own description is that as the forward hand grips the vertical foregrip, the thumb has quick and perfect access to the rear button. It also reduces accidental activation, because reaching the button is natural but deliberate.

Will it fit an M-LOK handguard?
Not directly — this is a Picatinny mount. On an M-LOK or KeyMod handguard you would fit a rail section first and clamp the mount to that. On a quad rail it goes straight onto either side rail.

Is it left-hand friendly?
Yes. The same part mounts on either side rail, so it works for either hand; you simply choose the side.
