The Daniel Defense Micro Mount is a Rock & Lock optic mount for Aimpoint Micro-footprint red dots, giving absolute or lower 1/3 co-witness on a flat-top AR-15 upper receiver.
Most micro red dot mounts make you choose a height before you have ever looked through the optic on your own rifle. This one does not: it gives absolute or a lower 1/3 co-witness with your backup iron sights, and the magnesium alloy spacer that raises it is supplied. Fit it, shoulder the rifle, and change your mind if you want to.
A recoil lug interface sits between the mount and the optic, so the red dot is located positively rather than relying on clamping friction alone, and the body is snag-free and reversible. Attachment is Daniel Defense's patented Rock & Lock system onto the receiver rail. The mount is precision CNC machined from aircraft-grade 6061-T6 aluminum and Military Specification Type III hard-coat anodized, weighs 1.5–1.8 oz (43–51 g) depending on configuration, and is made in the USA.
Key Features
- Lower 1/3 spacer included — absolute or lower 1/3 co-witness from the same box, in magnesium alloy
- Recoil lug interface — the optic is located against a lug, not just clamped
- Rock & Lock attachment — patented mounting that goes on and comes off cleanly
- Snag-free and reversible — nothing to catch on gear, and it can be turned around
- 6061-T6 aluminum, Type III hard-coat anodized — service-grade construction throughout
- 1.5–1.8 oz (43–51 g) — light enough to leave the balance alone
Compatibility & Fitment
Fits red dots on the Aimpoint Micro footprint — Aimpoint Micro R-1, H-1, H-2, T-1 and T-2, Vortex Sparc I and II, Primary Arms Micro Dot and Advanced Micro Dot, and the Holosun Technologies HS403, plus other optics with the same mounting interface. It mounts to a flat-top AR-15 upper receiver rail. Use it without the spacer for absolute co-witness with standard AR-15 iron sights, or with the supplied magnesium alloy spacer for a lower 1/3 co-witness. Check your optic's footprint rather than its brand — a dot on a different footprint will not sit on this mount.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which optics does it take?
Anything on the Aimpoint Micro footprint. Daniel Defense lists the Aimpoint Micro R-1, H-1, H-2, T-1 and T-2, the Vortex Sparc I and II, the Primary Arms Micro Dot and Advanced Micro Dot, and the Holosun HS403, plus other optics with the same mounting interface. Check the footprint rather than the brand.
What height does it give?
Both of the usual ones. Used on its own it gives an absolute co-witness with standard AR-15 iron sights; with the supplied magnesium alloy spacer fitted it gives a lower 1/3 co-witness. The spacer is included, so you are not committing to a height when you order.
How does it attach to the optic?
Through a recoil lug interface between the mount and the optic, so the dot is positively located rather than held by clamping force alone. The mount itself attaches to the receiver rail with Daniel Defense's patented Rock & Lock system.
Will it fit a rifle with iron sights already fitted?
That is the point of a co-witness mount — the dot sits so that your existing front and rear irons line up either through the middle of the window (absolute) or in the lower third of it. It mounts to a flat-top upper receiver rail, so you need that rail free where the mount sits.
