The RMR: rugged, low-profile, duty-proven
The RMR (Ruggedized Miniature Reflex) is the optic that made slide-mounted dots mainstream. Its compact housing and small, protected window are built to take abuse — the reason it is a standard for duty and everyday carry. The trade-off is a smaller viewing window, which some shooters find takes more practice to pick up quickly.
The SRO: a big round window for speed
The SRO (Specialized Reflex Optic) opens up a large circular window that makes the dot faster to find and easier to track during rapid strings — a favorite for competition and range use. Because that window is larger and more exposed, it is less suited to hard carry and holster abuse than the RMR.
How to choose
- Choose the RMR for carry, duty, or any rifle/shotgun role where ruggedness and a low profile matter most.
