EOTech's two main holographic weapon sights — the EXPS and the XPS — share the same fast holographic reticle but differ in body, controls and mounting. That decides which fits your build.
EXPS: built to run a magnifier
The EXPS uses a quick-detach lever mount, side-mounted buttons (so a magnifier behind it does not block the controls), and a taller height that co-witnesses cleanly with a flip-to-side G-series magnifier. If you plan to add magnification, the EXPS is the natural choice — see G33 vs G43 vs G45.
XPS: lighter and lower
The XPS is more compact and lighter, with rear-mounted buttons and a lower, non-QD mount. It is ideal when you want the smallest, lightest holographic setup and are not running a magnifier — a clean red-dot-style profile on a carbine.
How to choose
- EXPS if you want (or might add) a magnifier, prefer a QD mount, or want night-vision-compatible versions.
- XPS if you want the lightest, lowest-profile holographic sight and no magnifier.
